Potato protein: from starch to protein
Potatoes are not just one of the world’s most important food crops, they are also used in huge quantities for making starch. Potato starch is a key product for uses that range from non-active ingredients in pharmaceutical products (tablets and capsules) through to food (as a thickener or gluten-free alternative to other food crops) and even for a range of industrial uses (due to its high viscosity).
Typically, the starch industry only uses the starch, while the other remaining components of the potato are used as animal feed. Duynie Group has pioneered new ways to extract even greater value from our growing potato crops, and especially as a co-product from starch manufacturing.
