Potato protein: from starch to protein
Potatoes are not just one of the world’s most important food crops, they are used in huge quantities for making starch. Potato starch is a key product for many different uses: non-active ingredients in pharmaceutical products (tablets and capsules), food (as a thickener or gluten-free alternative to other food crops) and even for industrial uses (due to its high viscosity).
Once starch has been extracted, the other parts of the potato are traditionally used as animal feed. Now Duynie Group has pioneered new ways to extract even greater value from our potato crops, especially as a co-product from starch manufacturing.
