<p>The Dutch Minister of Agriculture, Carola Schouten, has recently announced that co-products (moist animal feeds) will be exempted from the feed measure. Derk van Manen (Duynie Group, Manager QNR): This means that co-product suppliers can continue to sell their products to the Dutch dairy farming sector, regardless of the protein content.</p>

All co-products designated as sustainable by the Dutch minister

<p>Ever since the nitrogen measures were introduced, Duynie Group has lobbied for the exemption of co-products. The 2019 agriculture memorandum (also drawn up by Minister Carola Schouten) states that the use of co-products in dairy farming is circular and sustainable. According to Derk van Manen (Duynie Group Manager Quality, Nutrition and Research): “Duynie Group (jointly with the sector organisation) has continually pointed out that a nitrogen cap in dairy feed should not hinder the use of (protein-rich) co-products. This viewpoint has been listened to and has resulted in the exemption of co-products.”</p>
